July’s top dog on the GUKPT overall Leaderboard Steve Vigor edged further in front of last year’s Player of the Year David Johnson with a win in the £200 Double Chance NL Hold’em event that started the Summer Series weekend in Southampton on Thursday.  Runner up in that first tournament Guijar Nitoo went on to take 1st place in the final event, the £100 NL Bounty tournament, giving him a total win of over £3,400 for the Southampton Series.

Southampton’s Main Event attracted 65 runners and paid most of a final table – the largest prize (£10,390) going to Christopher Webber who became the dual final Summer Series Champion along with Sheffield winner Michael Arnot.

Arnot might have taken the £7,820 first prize from the Main Event in Sheffield, but he was only slightly ahead of Garry Hallows for the weekend overall – Hallows cashed no fewer than 3 times – one of the best showings at the 2011 Summer Series.  The £100 Bounty Booster finished Sheffield’s festival in style, attracting 109 runners and giving winner John Stokes a top prize of £2,455.  Runner up Matthew Christopher had also won the first event (£200 freezeout) for a further £2,920.

These events bring the triple Summer Series to an end, as the GUKPT regular legs, having rested for a few months, warm up: Luton G Casino will host the next festival, running 14th-21st August.  The £1,000 + £70 Main Event takes place from Friday 19th (two starting flights begin at 12pm and 6pm) until Sunday when the first GUKPT trophy of Autumn will be awarded.
