2012 Manchester Leg One Final Table

Goodbye From Manchester

Well that's it from Manchester and the first leg of the 2012 GukPT Tour. 171 players turned up each stumping up the £1000 to play creating a prizepool of £171,000 and a £49,600 first prize. This was the first time we only had one starting day, but it made for a great Day one as the cardroom was busy with 17 tables full which created a great atmosphere. Michael Kane dominated the early stages and at one point on Day One, he had five times the average stack. Although he dominated the starting levels, it was Sam Grafton who finished the day on top, gradually increasing his stack and finishing the day with with 188,000. Day Two begun with 50 players and it seemed like a rollercoaster for everyone involved, the chip lead would change numerous times between Jamie Ellwood, Sam Grafton, Lewis Hunter just a few of the players who held onto the chip lead over day two. We would finish early on Day Two with a level and 10 minutes still to play. Sam Grafton held the chip lead on the final going into today with over a third of the chips in play. It was a great final and a very impressive battle heads up by two aggressive players and either player would of thoroughly deserved the title. Lewis Hunter eventually winning it and taking the title back up the road.

That's it though from us for this leg. We hope you have enjoyed our coverage and will join us again in March for the second leg in Walsall. From everyone here at the GukPT, be lucky!!!

Lewis Hunter Takes it Down

Kev Steele makes it 65,000 to play and Lewis Hunter makes the call. The flop comes A--8--6 which both players check. The turn card brings a King. Lewis leads out for 80,000, Kev does his usual quick raise, bumping it up to 205,000. Lewis then throws some blue (10k chips) into the middle announcing all in!! Kev has around 900,000 chips behind as he starts to eyeball Lewis, who is giving absolutely nothing away, after a few minutes Kev makes the call. Neither player wants to show their hand as there is a few seconds of awkwardness, before Lewis turns over A-10, Kev grimaces before showing A-9. He needs a nine to survive or the title is going back to Scotland. It doesn't come on the river for Kev and we have our first champion on 2012.

Lewis Hunter is our champion taking home £49,600. Kev Steele is the runner up winning £34,360.

Lewis Takes the Lead

Kev Steele opens for 65,000. Lewis then casual stacks a stack of 140,000 and pushes them into the middle, Kev takes little time before making the call.

The flop brings J--2--5 then all hell breaks loose. Lewis leads out for 155,000, Kev takes little time before raising, pushing two stacks of 200,000 over the line, making it 400,000 total. Lewis has a peek down at his cards before looking at the dealer and announcing all in!!

Kev has a massive decision on his hands and he takes a few minutes counting his chips and eyeballing Lewis before he folds as Lewis takes the chip lead!

Play is Underway

The two players are back seated and we are underway. Blinds are 15,000 - 30,000.

Very close stacks, so I'm guessing it will be a long one.

Four Bet FTW - Break Time

Kev Steele opens the action with a preflop bet of 57,000. This is raised by Lewis as he makes it 145,000. Action comes back to Kev who reaches deep into his stack, sliding a stack of 10k & 5k chips across the line, making it 352,000 to play, Lewis checks his cards again before throwing them into the muck giving Kev the pot. With that pot stacks are more or less now level, with both players having close to 1,700,000.

Players are now taking a 15 minute break as the level has just finished.

Nice Pot for Kev

Both players see a flop of Q--8--8. Kev checks to Lewis who bets 55,000, which Kev calls.

The turn card brings another eight. Kev again checks, Lewis fires 71,000 and Kev comes along for the ride as he again calls. The river card comes a 4. Kev opts to lead out this time betting 100,000 into Lewis, who after little thought slides out a raise to 250,000. Kev checks his cards again before making the call.

Lewis was caught at it as he mucks his hand. Kev shows Q-6 for a full house and takes a nice pot.

Players Very Deep

The players are very deep at the minute Kev currently has 1.2 million (50 big blinds) and Lewis has 2.2million (90 big blinds), which means there is plenty of play left in the tournament, so we could be in for a long one. Alot of three betting currently going on, but not any big hands of note.

20 minutes remaining of this level.

Whose going to take down the first leg of the GukPT 2012?? Keep tuned here and on the live stream http://www.grosvenorukpokertour.com/en/Events/Live-webcast/ with The Tower and Wesley bringing you live commentary.
